Warmer Kiwi Homes Grants – Get Financial Assistance for Insulation & Heating in Hawke’s Bay

The Warmer Kiwi Homes programme is a government initiative designed to make homes warmer, drier, and more energy-efficient. Many older homes in New Zealand lack proper insulation and efficient heating, which can lead to higher energy bills, damp conditions, and poor indoor air quality. This grant helps homeowners improve their living conditions by subsidizing insulation and heating installations.

Funding is available for:

🔥 Ceiling & Underfloor Insulation – Covers 80% of the total cost of insulation installation. In some areas, additional funding may reduce this cost even further.

🔥 Heat Pumps, Wood Burners & Pellet Burners – 80% of the cost (up to $3,000 including GST) for an approved heating system in the main living area.

💡 Note: Wood and pellet burners are not available in all regions, so a heat pump is often the best option for most homeowners.

To qualify for the Warmer Kiwi Homes grant, you must meet the following criteria:

✅ You must own and live in the home you are applying for (not available for rental properties).
✅ Your home must have been built before 2008.
✅ You must have a Community Services Card OR live in a lower-income area (as determined by the government’s funding criteria).
✅ Your home must have adequate ceiling and underfloor insulation (if applying for heating assistance). If your home is not insulated, you must install insulation first before applying for heating assistance.
